About these terms
Next Move is a website (an independent front-end, or "builder") that lets you view and trade prediction markets about financial, economic, business and crypto events, such as asset prices, economic data and company results. The markets themselves are smart contracts on the Rain protocol, deployed on the Arbitrum One blockchain. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the operator of this site, and "you" means the person using it.
These terms apply to your use of Next Move, including signing in, depositing, withdrawing, opening a position, selling a position and claiming winnings. By ticking "I have read and accept the terms" and confirming, or by otherwise using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Eligibility and your local laws
You must be at least 18 years old, and of legal age to enter into a binding agreement where you live, to use the site.
The site is accessible from many countries. Prediction markets, event contracts, derivatives and gambling are regulated differently around the world, and in some places they are restricted or prohibited. You are solely responsible for making sure your use of the site is lawful where you are located and where you are resident. You must not use the site where doing so is prohibited or requires a licence or approval that you or we do not have. You must not use a VPN or other means to hide your location for that purpose.
You must not use the site if you are the subject of sanctions, are located in a sanctioned country or region, or are acting on behalf of someone who is. You must not use the site for money laundering, fraud, market manipulation or any other unlawful purpose, or to trade on a market whose outcome you can control or improperly influence.
We may restrict or block access to the site, or to trading, from any location or for any user, at any time and without notice.
Risk and real money
Trading on this site uses real money: the USD₮0 stablecoin on Arbitrum One. The price of a position moves with supply and demand. A position on the side that does not win becomes worthless, so you can lose the entire amount you put into a market. Past prices and market probabilities are not predictions or guarantees.
Stablecoins, smart contracts and blockchains carry their own risks, including loss of a stablecoin's peg, software bugs, exploits, network outages, congestion and changes to the underlying protocols. Any of these can cause delays or loss of funds. Only trade money you can afford to lose entirely.
No advice
Nothing on Next Move — including market descriptions, prices, charts, news, editorial content or projections — is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, a recommendation, or a promise of any return. Every trading decision is yours alone. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your activity.
Your account and wallet
You sign in with email, Google or an existing crypto wallet through Privy, a third-party sign-in provider. Signing in creates a self-custodial (non-custodial) embedded wallet for you and a smart account on Arbitrum One, built with Alchemy. Your funds and positions are held in that smart account, not by us.
We do not hold, control or have access to your funds or your keys. We cannot move, freeze, recover, refund or reverse anything in your smart account. If you lose access to your sign-in method (for example your email account or your Google account), or to your wallet, you may permanently lose access to your funds, and we will not be able to restore it.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method and devices secure, and for all activity under your account.
Deposits
Deposits are crypto only. To fund your account you send USD₮0 on the Arbitrum One network to your own smart-account address, shown on the site. We do not accept card payments or other fiat currency, and we do not provide an on-ramp.
Always check the address, the token and the network before you send. Tokens sent on another network, tokens other than USD₮0, or funds sent to the wrong address may be lost permanently and cannot be recovered by us.
Withdrawals
Withdrawals are crypto only. You can send USD₮0 on the Arbitrum One network from your smart account to any address you enter. A withdrawal is a blockchain transaction that you approve; it is shown as complete only after the network confirms it. We do not pay out in card or fiat currency, and we do not provide an off-ramp.
A withdrawal is on-chain, final and irreversible. You are solely responsible for the destination address. Only send to an address that can receive USD₮0 on Arbitrum One. Funds sent to a wrong or mistyped address, or to an address or service (such as an exchange) that does not support USD₮0 on Arbitrum One, may be lost permanently, and we cannot recover, refund or reverse them.
The network (gas) fee for a withdrawal may be paid by us on your behalf, as described under "Fees". We may stop doing so at any time.
Trading, selling and claiming
Every trade, sale and claim is a blockchain transaction that you approve and that executes on a Rain market contract. Once confirmed on-chain it is final and irreversible. A transaction rejected by the network does not open or close a position. Prices shown before you confirm are estimates; the amount you receive can differ because of price movement, available liquidity and fees.
While a market is open, you can sell a position back to the market at the prevailing price, which may be lower than what you paid. After a market resolves, you can claim any winnings, which are paid into your smart account. You can withdraw funds from your smart account through the site, as described under "Withdrawals".
Markets may be created by us or by third parties. Where we create a market, we may receive a share of the fees it generates.
Fees
Each Rain market charges fees set in its contract. They can include platform, creator, resolver, liquidity and other protocol fees, and they can differ from market to market. The site reads the fees from the market and shows them before you confirm a trade. Part of these fees may be paid to us as the builder of this site.
Blockchain network (gas) fees for transactions made through the site may be paid by us on your behalf. We may stop doing so at any time.
Market rules and resolution
Each market has its own rules, published on the market page, that say what the market is about, when it closes and how it is decided. Read them before you trade.
Markets resolve according to their own rules, by the resolver named for that market and through the Rain protocol's mechanism, including any dispute or appeal process the protocol provides. Next Move does not decide outcomes, and we are not responsible for a resolver's decision, a delayed resolution or the outcome of a dispute. Any dispute about how a market resolved must be raised through the Rain protocol's process.
Third-party services
The site depends on services we do not control, including the Rain protocol and its smart contracts, Privy (sign-in and embedded wallets), Alchemy (smart accounts and blockchain access), the Arbitrum One network and the USD₮0 token. They have their own terms and policies, which apply to you when you use them. We are not responsible for their availability, security or conduct.
Your information
To run the site we store your sign-in identifier, your email address when you sign in with email or Google, your wallet and smart-account addresses, and a record of the terms versions you accepted and when. Your trades and balances are public on the blockchain by nature, and cannot be deleted.
Availability and no warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. Prices, balances and other information shown may be delayed or wrong; the blockchain is the record. We may change, pause or stop the site, any market listing or trading, in whole or in part, at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of funds, trading losses, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, the Rain protocol, any market, any third-party service or any blockchain transaction. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
You agree to indemnify us against claims and losses arising from your breach of these terms or of any law.
Responsible trading
Trading on prediction markets can be addictive. Set limits, and never trade money you need. If you feel your trading is getting out of control, stop and seek help from a problem-gambling or addiction support service where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each update gets a new version number, shown at the top of this page, and you will be asked to accept the new version before your next trade. The version in effect is the one shown on this page.
